I got married in August of 2017. I was a dependent of my parents until then would it be better to file married or as a dependent so my parents could claim me half a year?

There is no claiming you for part of the year.  They either claim you for all of 2017 or not.

Your filing status is determined by your status on December 31, 2017.  Since you were married you would need to file as Married filing a Joint Return or Married filing a Separate Return.  How you answer the questions as to whether or not you can be claimed as a dependent, that would depend on the factors mentioned below.

As to whether or not your parents can claim you as a dependent for the year 2017, it would depend on your age, whether or not you were a full-time student, etc.
