I got married in 2022 - Should I file jointly or separately?

When filing your taxes for 2022, it only matters if you are married on the last day of the year or not.  So if you get married anytime during 2022 you can file a joint return for the year with your spouse. 

It is usually better to file a joint return as you get more tax breaks, however, everyone's situation is different and it is always best to compare filing jointly or separately (Married filing Jointly vs Married filing separately )
