With whom did you change your name? The only agency that counts for filing your return is the Social Security Administration. IRS will compare information you provide against what they have on file. If you changed your name with them, that is the name you would use on your return. The changes may not be instantaneous in their system, however.

I changed my name with social security office 2 days prior to filing. How long does it take to change so I don't keep getting a rejected message?
