I filed with Turbo Tax for the first time last year. Previously I used an accountant. Long term capital gains (losses) were not included. How do I update the 2016 return

I had long term losses in the stock market through the years.  When I filed with TurboTax last year, this information was not included.  I did not have to pay taxes last year so a refund is not a problem.  I want the long term losses to be included in this years return 2017,

thank you

“I did not have to pay taxes last year” and “It did not affect the amount of taxes I paid” doesn’t fully describe your details. To be safe, you should file an amended return for 2016. Even when no tax is owed, some of you capital loss carry forward will be “consumed” on each year’s return. To accurately calculate the carry forward to 2017, you should prepare an amended return (even if you don’t actually file it) or  consult a tax pro to accurately calculate the carry forward and determine if you must amend.
