You will get whatever amount is shown on your tax return. However, if you qualify to file as HOH but did not, you may be paying taxes on $3000 more income than you would have by filing HOH and your tax rates are higher. Depending on how much of your income was taxable, you might be well served by amending your return to file as HOH.

Here are the requirement to file HOH:

1. You are not married or “considered unmarried” on the last day of the year. You are considered unmarried if you lived apart from your spouse the entire last 6 months of the year.

2. If "considered unmarried" you file a separate return from your spouse.

3. You paid more than half the cost of keeping up your home  for the year.

4. You have a qualifying child (whether or not you claim the dependency exemption) or you claim a dependency exemption for a “qualifying person”  who is related to you and who lived with you in the home for more than half the year. An exception is a parent does not have to live with you to be a qualifying person.

I have a dependent i just clicked single and forgot to change it.. but what does $3000 more part mean

I filed single instead of head of house hold will I still get my full amount

The standard deduction for single is $6300 and for HOH is $9300. The standard deduction and your exemptions are subtracted from your AGI to determine how much of your income you must pay tax on. So with HOH, an additional $3000 is deducted from AGI and thus your taxable income. That assumes your income is high enough that some of it is taxable after subtracting the standard deduction and exemptions from it.

If you want to amend your return, see these instructions: <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1894381-how-to-amend-change-or-correct-a-return-you-already-filed"...>
DON'T mail in an amended return until you receive the refund from your original return.
