You may well hear from the IRS with an adjusted refund (or tax due) based on the difference between your paystub and your W-2.

If that happens, an amendment won't be necessary.

However, if you do receive your refund (or after you pay your tax due) before you hear from the IRS, you should file an amendment to include the W-2.

You will need to print and mail the amendment along with your W-2. (it cannot be e-filed) and allow about 16 weeks for processing.
