Your return will be rejected if you did not enter an AGI. It is important because the IRS requires it in order to Accept a return.
How to enter your AGI in TurboTax Online:
- Sign in to your TurboTax Online return.
- Select File and you’ll get to the [Your name], just (…) more steps to complete screen.
- Complete Step 1 and 2 if you haven’t already done so, then go to Step 3.
- When getting to the Let’s get ready to e-file screen after selecting Step 3, select I want to e-file before you continue.
- Follow the online instructions. When prompted, put in your exact 2016 AGI.
- Continue through the screens until you’ve re-transmitted your return.
How to get last years' AGI:
- Locate it on last year's tax document
2. IRS transcript by visiting this link: https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript
3. Transfer in your information from last year but you would need to be in the correct account. You can use our Account Recovery link to locate your correct account if you need help.
Your AGI is your adjusted gross income from your 2016 return.
