I filed for an extension and received one. When does my extension expire?

The extension expires October 15.

The 2018 tax return with extension must be filed on or before October 15, 2019 to avoid a failure to file penalty if taxes are owed.  There are no penalties for filing after the due date if the tax return being filed has a tax refund or there are no taxes owed.

After 10/15/2019 the 2018 tax return can no longer be e-filed but must be printed and mailed.
