Did you pay for state when you filed the federal? State is a separate 39.99. Are you in the same account?

Actually the charge for filing a state return is separate. Sometimes it's easy to just enter your state information for free on your state's website or to print and mail in the state return, which doesn't generate the state filing fee. The fee for state may vary by state. I know for Colorado I just paid $24.99--because I decided I didn't have time to go on the state site and reinput the information like I usually do. I guess I just paid for the convenience! @VolvoGirl has some good tips in her comment if you have already paid. She may also know more about what charges are for different states.

24.99 is the fee to efile state from the CD/Download Desktop program. In the Online version it is 39.99 to do a state return.
