If you filed married filing separately you are not eligible for earned income credit. Did you have an amount on line 27 of your Form 1040? If you filed as Single or Head of Household with a dependent child you could get EIC, but you will not get it if you filed married filing separately.
Check line 35a on your Form 1040; make sure that is the amount you are using when you go to the IRS refund site.
