I failed to post my Box D Long Term losses of $156. Should I send this to IRS with my 8949 form and say I will adjust it? I also did not post my Box E-$476? Efile done
I have my 1099-B and failed to report the Part II Box D loss of -$156 and Part II Box E loss of -$476. I already E-filed.
Should I send these two documents to IRS with a note that I will amend?? My total losses were -$17,000 for the year so I capped out on the -$3,000 anyways.
This has NO effect on my total return.
Suggestions????

The IRS is not likely to bother you if you have a loss, but they do like things to be accurate. Since the IRS get a copy of your 1099-B, they may write you for a correction and you can deal with it then, or you can create an amendment in in TurboTax and mail it to them.
If you don't report the loss now, you won't ever be able to take it, and even at $3,000 an year, in 6 years you will be able to use it. (If you get some big gains, you'll want it sooner.) It's easy to create an amendment in TurboTax, and it's free, so I would not give up my deduction.
