A Fed.ID (EIN) number has this format XX-XXXXXXX.

If the EIN number on your W-2 does not have a total of nine numbers it is not a valid EIN and it will be rejected by TurboTax.  If the EIN is incorrect, contact your employer to obtain the correct EIN.

You may need to delete the W-2 to flush out any issues.

Follow these steps to delete a W-2.

  1. Select the Income and expenses tab.
  2. Check add/edit on the line for the W-2 you want to delete.
  3. On the page Your W-2 info so far check the trash can to delete the W-2.
  4. Select Add a W-2 to enter the W-2.

You may enter the EIN into TurboTax with or without the "-".

I am having the same issue.  I have entered the information from my W-2, Box C, exactly as it appears on my W-2 and the program will not accept it.  I have deleted it and entered it again.  It will not accept the correct name.  It adds amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp after the "&" in the name.

Try changing "&" to "and" or leaving it out altogether. The IRS matches W-2s by social security number so you will not have an IRS or e-file issue if the name is slightly different from how it is spelled on your W-2.
