I entered the information exactly in box d control number. But it won't accept it?

When you are manually entering the Box D control number, and it is not being accepted, then you can leave it blank.  The Internal Revenue Service is not concerned if Box D is blank.

The control number is an internal number used by payroll departments to identify the Forms W-2. If the program is asking for a number then you can create one by inputting the number in groups of five, space, then another five numbers (e.g. 24689 11123).
