I efiled on January 13th. Why are my returns still pending?

I efiled on January 13th. Why are my returns still pending?

Pending simply means that your e-filed return is on its way and that the government hasn't accepted or rejected it yet. The IRS just started accepting and processing tax returns on the 28th of January.
