Employers shouldn't issue a 1099 to their employees. A 1099 is used for contract labor, so you are being treated as if you are self-employed.

This means you will be charged an upgrade to file using TurboTax.

The good news is that you can deduct expenses relating to this income.

The bad news is, you will have to pay self-employment tax.
