If you had no income of any kind in 2022 there is no reason for you to file a 2022 tax return.
Yes that has changed. If you had no income for 2022 then filing a 2022 return will not get you any sort of credits or deductions. Sorry. It sounds as if someone else might be able to claim you as a dependent for 2022, though, since you say you had no income. Dependents are not eligible for tax credits.
@SJBennison21 Yes, we know. But the rules are changed for 2022 tax returns. Your 2021 earnings do not get you anything whatsoever on a 2022 tax return.

If I earned something small in 2021 would that make a difference as I possibly could get an Earned Income Credit and use Standard Deduction ?
What you earned in 2021 has no bearing on the 2022 tax return.
You cannot enter income you earned in 2021 on a 2022 tax return. If you had income in 2021 you can put it on a 2021 income tax return. You cannot put it on 2022. Income you received in 2021 will not make you eligible for earned income credit for 2022.
I understand that. Last year on the 1040 under Earned Income Credit in Section 27c… it asked for Prior Year (2019) earned income and you could enter there. Has that changed for 2022 ?

Sorry.. correction.. on 2021 return, you could enter Prior year (2019) earned income.
