I downloaded the app. every time I tried to do the free refund it tried to upgrade me to Plus how do I override that?

You can use TurboTax Free Edition for simple returns. You may have entered information that the Free Edition doesn’t cover, which available in the Plus version. You can downgrade to the Free Edition by clicking Clear and Start Over, which is located at the top of the home page under My Account.
