I do not know how to -put a tractor down as an asset. i go to farm assets and it says did you buy something for 2500.00 or less? tractor cost more

You want to answer No to the question Did you buy something for $2,500 or less? and then move on through the screens. You will get to the place where you enter your tractor.  See steps below.

Here are the steps from the beginning:

1. Click on Federal in the black area to the left
2. Under the Income & Expenses tab at the top
3. Scroll down and click Edit/Add next to Farm Income
4. Continue through the next couple of screens to Farm Summary, click Edit next to your Farm
5. On the next screen, scroll all the way down to Farm Assets
6. Click on Start or Edit next to Farm Assets
7. Choose Yes, I want to go to my asset summary or Yes, Do You Have Any Assets?
   
8. Click on +Add an Asset
   
9. Continue through the next couple of screens to Describe This Asset
10. Choose Farm Equipment, Animals, Agriculture
11. Click on Farm Equipment
12. On the next screen put in the description, cost  and the date acquired
13. On How do you want to Deduct this Item, you have a choice for accelerated depreciation
