Simple means different things to different people. Because of the major tax form changes in 2018 due to the new tax law, different things can be entered on the new form 1040 than could be entered last year on the simple 1040EZ or 1040A forms. If you require one of the 6 new schedules 1-6 to enter something on your tax return, you must upgrade to Deluxe.
