The first person listed on 1099 is the owner and must report the entire amount on their return.  If there is a co-owner we can make an adjustment.

  1. Other than community property states you can allocate from zero to 100% to the other individual.
  2. To enter a 1099-DIV or INT you should post it as normal to the Owners return.
  3. Go to Wages & Income
  4. Work on other income
  5. Select Interest on 1099-DIV INT(You may have to scroll down to get it.)
  6. Did you receive any Dividend income? Yes
  7. Scroll down to Change how I enter my Form
  8. Scroll down to Type it myself
  9. Follow screens to enter the information
  10. After entering your data, you will come to a screen Tell us if any of these uncommon situations apply to you
  11. Select I need to adjust these dividends or this is an ESOP distribution.
  12. I need to adjust these dividends
  13. Tell us about your dividend adjustment
  14. Enter the amount you want to allocate to the other individual
  15. I received all or part of these dividends for someone else
  16. You must then enter the amount into the other person's tax return.
