Here is the best way to remove this annoying error. If using TurboTax online
- On the left-side menu, select Tax Tools, then click Tools.
- In the pop-up window, select Delete a form.
- Look through the list for Form 2555 (it might be listed as 2555-T or 2555-S).
- Click Delete next to it.
- Also look for and delete any Form 2555 Worksheets. If a worksheet remains, the software will keep "remembering" you had foreign income.
- log out or open your return to save your changes
- log back in to see if that error is still there.
If using the desktop version.
- Go to the Forms mode in your return. In the list on the left, look for Form 2555 (it may be labeled as Form 2555-T for taxpayer or Form 2555-S for spouse).
- Click on the form name so it appears in the main window.
- Click the Delete Form button located at the bottom of the screen.
- Look for any 2555 Worksheets. Delete those as well. If you leave the worksheets, the software will keep regenerating the main form.
- Close return and reopen to see if the error persists.
