I didn't realize I was supposed to file a 1040 form how to do I file it now

If you filed a tax return you filed a Form 1040. That is the form that is used when you prepare a tax return. You should LOOK at your own tax return before you file it. Look at it now.

Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the screen. Click on Tools. Click on View Tax Summary. Click on Preview my 1040 on the left side of the screen.

You can use TurboTax to prepare and file your 1040 return, plus any state returns needed.

If you filed another type of return, like a 1040-NR, you will have to complete Form 1040X to amend that return and attach it to your 1040. Please see these similar entries for guidance:
