Your guardian? Please explain. Parents/guardians do not receive stimulus money for dependents who are older than 16 years old. How old were you at the end of 2020? Can you still be claimed as a dependent on someone else's tax return? If you CAN be claimed then you are supposed to say on your own return that you can be claimed-----and you do not get stimulus money.
Further----if someone just gave you some money---that was not stimulus money issued to YOU and you do not put it on your 2020 tax return.
You would only report a payment you received in your name. If you were previously claimed as a dependent by someone else, you would not have gotten a payment in your own name (although it sounds like the person who claimed you as a dependent shared their payment with you.)
If you now can't be claimed as a dependent any more, you are eligible for the recovery rebate. However, if you still meet the qualifications to be claimed as a dependent by someone else, you must answer "yes" to the question "Can someone else claim you as a dependent?" and this will disqualify you from the rebate this year. You must answer that you can be claimed if you can be, even if you don't want to be claimed.
