Yes the $500 is correct. She was 17 at the end of 2018 so she was too old to qualify for the child tax credit of up to $2000.

Was your child under age 17 at year end 2018? The child tax credit is up to $2000 but for any child age 17 or older, the credit is a family credit that is only $500.

She turns 18 today so is the $500 correct?
