I claimed my girlfriend as a dependent on last year taxes, and maybe more years, but she passed away on August 28th! How do I handle claiming her as a dependent for 9 mo?

As you are going through your TurboTax interview, the program will give you the option of marking a dependent as passed away in 2021. Dependents who pass during the year are still deductible the entire year. 

To get to the correct page, please follow the steps below:

1. Open your return.
2. Click continue on Personal Info.
3. Click Edit next to your girlfriend's name. 
4. Scroll down the page.
5. Mark off that the dependent passed in 2021.
