I chose Turbo Tax Free. Why do I owe anything to Turbo Tax? My wages for the whole year are less than $2000.

To see your fees, click on Tax Tools on the left side of the screen. Then click on Tools. You will see My Fees in the center of the screen.

We just filed a Federal/State tax return using TurboTax Premier.  The federal filing was free, but there was a $25 charge for the state return.  Please check the Turbo Tax Free offering from Intuit to see what filing fees are pertinent to your situation.

 The $25 state efile fee (no fee for NY state) is only in the desktop software.    Online TurboTax has no efiling fees--only preparation fees (in the paid editions.)   Free Edition has no preparation fee and no efiling fees.  It's not yet clear what the OP is being charged for.  Most commonly someone started in Free Edition then something in the return can't be handled by that edition and has to upgrade to Deluxe.   The user has some alternatives if/when he/she responds back, or can downgrade if simply ended up in the wrong edition.
