I checked my mail instructions for my federal tax return and the refund amount does not match what's on the main screen on turbotax -- why?

The refund that shows on the left when you log into TurboTax (on the "main screen" called your Tax Home) is the total of your federal and state amounts. So if they are both refunds, it will show both of those numbers added together, if one is a refund and the other is a balance due they will be shown as a net amount. If you want to see the details of what was the refund on each of the federal and state returns you filed, scroll down and open the "Your tax returns & documents" section where you will see the individual refund or balance due for each tax return.
