I change my mind and don't want to put part of my federal return towards next years taxes

As long as you have not already submitted your return and it has not been accepted by the IRS, you can go back and change applying your refund to next year's taxes by going here in TurboTax:

  • Select Federal Taxes (Personal if using TurboTax Self-Employed or Home and Business)
  • Other Tax Situations
  • Additional Tax Payments
  • Apply Payment to Next Year

You can then go through the interview and choose to receive your refund this year.
