When I get to the screen on 2025 TurboTax Premier 2025 Desktop that asks "Did you have crypto, nft's, or other digital assets?" and I indicate "Yes" and then click "Continue", it takes me to a display of our entire 2025 Income and then to our Deductions and Credits section. It gives me no opportunity to enter information from my Form 1099-DA. Supposedly, when I start TurboTax each day on my desktop, it installs all the latest updates to the current software. I am guessing that other people can add 1099-DA information manually, so how do I do that when I see no path forward? Thank you.

In TurboTax Premier 2025 Desktop, after indicating you had crypto or digital assets, you should be guided to enter your 1099-DA information. If it jumps directly to your Income or Deductions sections instead, try these steps:
1. Go back to the Federal Taxes section.
2. Select Wages & Income.
3. Scroll down to Cryptocurrency, Digital Assets, and NFTs or a similar category.
4. Choose to Add a 1099-DA or crypto sale and enter your information there.
Sometimes navigation might not be automatic, so manually accessing this section ensures you can enter digital asset sales.
Thank you so much for your prompt reply, but this does not work. I cannot get the display where I can add the 1099-DA manually. I just end up in the same place each time.
First, make sure your software is fully updated, and then try again by selecting Wages & Income > Investments from the menu.
If the manual updates do not resolve the issue, there are some general FAQ troubleshooting practices for issues with TurboTax Desktop:
To make sure TurboTax runs smoothly:
- Make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements.
- Make sure you have administrator rights on your computer and TurboTax is running as administrator:
- Right-click the TurboTax icon or setup icon and select Properties. In the Compatibility tab, select the Run this program as administrator box and select OK.
- In the Control Panel under Internet Options, add https://*.intuit.com to Trusted Sites. Set security level to Medium.
- Turn off antivirus software and Windows Defender.
- Add TurboTax Desktop to your allowed apps in Windows Defender.
- Clean up and defragment your hard drive.
- Run Windows Update to keep your computer up-to-date.
- Update your computer's hardware drivers.
- Update your security software for firewall, virus, and spyware protection.
- Make sure you're the only user on your computer running TurboTax. If you're not, switch users and sign out of TurboTax from the other account. If you can't do that, shut down your computer and try again. (Error: 70001)
Alternative steps for Mac users.
You can also uninstall and reinstall your desktop product (this has worked for some users). *Make sure that you save and back up your file (you do not want to lose any data - See: How do I back up my tax file in the TurboTax Desktop software?
Thank you both for your prompt and detailed replies. I really appreciate your time and effort. Unfortunately, neither worked in my situation, but fortunately, I found a workaround to get the information inserted into my return. I had to keep playing with it until I finally did something that worked. You would think for the cost of the software that it would work as designed, but that apparently is not the case.
