what is line 39a on form 1040 ask there is no 39a on form 1040a so I cant answear

I assume you are asking about a 2017 or earlier tax return, because for 2018 there is no line 39a on Form 1040, and there is no Form 1040A.

For 2017, Form 1040 line 39a is where you indicate whether you (or your spouse, if filing jointly) are 65 or older, or blind. This is used to determine the amount of your standard deduction. On Form 1040A the same information is on line 23a.
