I am using the self employed version but I think I need to upgrade to a small business version. I am a W2 employee and run a side business. Thoughts?

The Self-employed version of TurboTax will work fine for you. The Business versions are actually for corporations, partnerships, and estates and trsuts.

Yes, one version is called "Home & Business" but that is the same as Self-employed. You will be fine.
