I am using 2017 TurboTax deluxe, and got everything ready to be e-filed. When I clicked on "pay with my credit card for the $19.99 state e-filing cost," the system
the system answered "we will need to save the file." Then, t he system would get STUCK
there, not advancing to the next window to accept my credit card number.
How do I solve it? Thanks.

Good luck, I spent two hours with tek support from turbotax and the result was that I should print out the state and mail it.e

This answer was exactly what I experienced. I spent almost two hours with the TurboTax tech support. The end result was that I had to mail the CA state return, not e-filing it. I bought the cd
from Amazon and got Amazon to refund me the Turbo tax 2017 de luxe purchase price.
