I am trying to file my 2017 taxes and program keeps saying 2018! I selected 2017. Help!

Are you using the Online version now to enter 2017?  You can't use online.  Online is now only for 2018.

Online is only good for the current year 2018 so you have to buy the Desktop CD/Download program here https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/   

Or you can get the blank forms from the IRS and do them by hand.  You will have to print and mail prior year returns. 

If you did enter 2017 into the 2018 online version you need to clear it out.  How to clear

Don’t forget your state.  And you will have to print and mail your returns.  So be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them.  You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places.  Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.

Sounds like you were probably using the On-Line version of TTax (which you would access via a web browser),
and not the Desktop version you would install on your own computer.

Unfortunately, the On-Line version ALWAYS shuts down around Oct 15 of each year to start preparations
for the new tax year.  Once the On-Line version shuts down it is unlikely that you will be able to
reliably retrieve the data --unless you had paid in advance.

At this time only the current year 2018 return is available

Your most reliable and timely option at this point is to purchase a download copy of TTax for 2017.

Please be aware that the current screen graphics display make it somewhat confusing regarding Windows or
MAC and whether you want a CD or download.   Please read carefully; the choice to order a CD is shown
