I am trying to add a dependent and the Turbo tax won't let me. Yes I went to profile, yes I went to household. There is not an option to add a dependent

Click on My Info on the left side of the program screen.  When you are on the first screen in My Info, you do not see the link that states Add a dependent

If you are unable to find the option to add a dependent in TurboTax under "My Info" or "Household," it is likely because a previous question was answered in a way that suggests you have no dependents.

If you are using TurboTax Online:

1. Go to "My Info" in the left-hand menu.
2. Click "Edit" next to your own name to re-run the personal information interview.
3. Proceed through the screens until you reach the screen titled "About Your Household".
4. Answer "Yes" to the question "Do you have any dependents?". Click on Yes.
5. Enter the number of dependents, which will then prompt the system to allow you to add their specific details.
6. And Continue.
7. Answer all followup questions regarding your dependents.

If you are using TurboTax Desktop:

1. Click the "Personal Info" tab at the top.
2. Select "Continue" and review your information until you reach the "Dependents" section.
3. Click "Edit" next to "Dependents".
4. Answer "Yes" to the question "Do you have children or financially support another person?".
5. Add your dependent's information and answer the followup questions.. 
    

If you have already filed your tax return, you cannot add a dependent this way. You will need to amend your return.
