I am traveling on a cruise around South America returning in mid April. I need to file an extension for filling my tax return. How do I do this?

If you need to file an extension now, you may download the form from the IRS website here: Form 4868, Application for Automatic Extension of Time To File U.S. Individual Income Tax Return.

However, if you can wait, TurboTax Easy Extension for tax year 2016 will launch in mid-March of 2017. This is the best method, as TurboTax will complete the form for you.

Your tax liability (if any) is still due by the filing deadline (April 18, 2017 for tax year 2016).
