you are eligible for the 3rd stimulus or the Recovery Rebate Credit - but not both.
the formula is $1400 times the number of people listed on your tax return LESS what you already received (but not less than zero).
that result should be on Line 30 of Form 1040. (if you received evernthing entitied to you, Line 30 will be 0)
To verify what you already received, go to your bank account statements frome last March - May, 2021 to see how much was direct deposited by the IRS. Alternatively, you may have received Letter 6475 from the IRS which states how much they sent you. WARNING: if you filed "married-joint', there are TWO letters, with the same amount on both letters, be sure to ADD THEM TOGETHER.
does that help?
Yes I think so. I did do that when I filed. Then I was advised I was not supposed to include the amounts listed on letter 6475. So I got confused.
@kirankoliver - if you failed to enter what was on Letter 6475, resulting in the incorrect amount on Line 30, don't worry about it, the IRS will find that and adjust your tax return in any event - no need to amend the return.
