I am not filing a 1040 why is my federal return showing a 1040a. I am filing a ssa-1099
The 1040 is the form that is sent to the IRS, the 1099 is the summery of the information of your earnings you got from SSA. The 1040 comes in different versions such as a 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ, 1040NR, and a 1040X.
