I am not able to import 1099 forms from ETrade. After the connecting with ETrade, it pops ups a screen and has a button "Allow". If I click it, nothing happens.

Helpful TurboTax Articles:

If you received a "Success" message but your data hasn't appeared in TurboTax, it is likely due to recent browser security updates regarding Local Network Access.

To fix this you need to allow TurboTax to securely retrieve your data through your browser settings:

  1. Locate the View Site Information icon (the "tune" or "lock" icon) on the far left of your address bar, just before the URL.
  2. Find Local Network Access in the dropdown menu.
  3. Toggle the switch to ON.
  4. Refresh the page and attempt your import again.

What do I do when my data isn't imported into TurboTax Desktop even though it says successful import...

If permissions aren't the issue, one of the following factors may be at play:

  • Brokerage Delays: While most forms arrive by January 31, many brokerages delay Consolidated 1099s (like the 1099-B) until mid-February due to complex reporting requirements.
  • Availability: Your brokerage must specifically "release" the import file to TurboTax. If it isn’t ready, we recommend checking back.
  • Connection Blocks: Active VPNs or aggressive Anti-Virus software can occasionally block the import feature between your bank and TurboTax. Try disabling them temporarily or switching to a different browser.

I have the same problem. Spent nearly and hour with Turbo tech support.  Empty cache, deleted histories, allowed pop-ups, and more. Nothing worked. Double checked with E*trade Morgan Stanley and ensured the data is available. So far no joy.

Mine will import all standard stock transactions but leaves behind all options trades. I have enough trades that it will be painful to enter all by hand but not even close to the published limits for importing. If anyone has any tips I am all ears.

If you are having trouble importing your 1099 from ETrade:

  1. Make sure you are selecting the correct entity, there are some entities that have similar names.
  2. You also need to consider that both TurboTax Online and TurboTax Desktop support up to 10,000 of any combination of transactions and imports.  If your file is larger, you will not be able to import it.
  3. Check to see if your web browsers require permission to let a website send data to a program on your computer.  See the following TurboTax help article for more information.
  4. Make sure that your pop-up blockers are off.
  5. Switch to a different browser.
  6. Make sure that you enable third-party access to your brokerage account information.

If these do not work see the following TurboTax help article for more troubleshooting ideas:
