I am filing our taxes-joint-since my husband is on deployment. I checked that someone is claiming me- meaning my husband- or was I not to check that?

After I put our child's name in, it prompt that the child would not be a dependent if I am being claimed.

No, a spouse can never be a dependent. You should file jointly with your spouse even if one spouse had no income.  You will get two exemptions, which is the same as a dependent for tax purposes.

Uncheck the boxthat someone is claiming you. Once you change to Married Filing Jointly, the two of you shouldn't have a problem claiming your child as a dependent.
