I am disabled and my ssi is non taxable, I do however have a son under 18 that also gets ssi payments, can i file taxes for the child tax credit and head of household

If your income is not taxable then you will not get any benefit from filing. The Child tax credit is non refundable and if you owe no tax, you get no child tax credit. To qualify for the refundable additional child tax credit you must have at least $3,000 of earned income. SSI is not earned income.
