I am changing my 2017 tax filing to married filing jointly. My wife and I previously filed separately. Do we file together on TurboTax, or update our separate filings?

My wife and I both filed separate filings on TurboTax. For our amended filing, do we need to update our separate filings, or file a combined amended filing in order to file a married filing jointly tax filing?

To amend your previously filed 2017 tax returns from married filing separately to married filing jointly, you amend one of the separate returns, changing the filing status to married filing jointly and adding the other person's information. You don't do anything with the other separate return. It will be ignored.
