if you don't have a SSN or an ITIN how did you enter your information into TT?? what did you enter into the SSN field? The eligibility for the 3rd stimulus is triggered by a valid SSN.
If you don't work, why are you even filling out a tax return (or is there a bigger picture here that you have a spouse who is required to complete a tax return because they work?????)
In order to apply for an ITIN, one needs to do so in conjunction with the income tax filing regardless of whether you work/have an income or not. I cannot E-file for this, I need to print out and mail the return along with a W-7 ITIN Application form. For this, I entered a temporary/Make-shift SSN in TT which I will strike out after printing a PDF because TT doesn’t let me go to the next page without filling up the SSN field so I had no choice but to enter a random one. Unless anyone has another solution? Would be really helpful to get some direction here.
okay - now I understand...... you are doing everything correctly..... suggest using a dummy SSN that follows the following sequence
"All valid ITINs are a nine-digit number in the same format as the SSN (9XX-8X-XXXX), begins with a “9” and the 4th and 5th digits range from 50 to 65, 70 to 88, 90 to 92, and 94 to 99."
I would expect that TT recognizes it as an ITIN and doesn't give you the Recovery Rebate Credit / stimulus. In other words, the objective is for Line 30 to be zero.
