I am a victim of hurricane Harvey and I see nothing that will allow me to file for disasters on the website.

You can use the steps here below to help you get to the section to deduct damages that resulted from a disaster.

  • Log into account and click Take me to my return
  • Click Federal to the left
  • Then click Deductions & Credits at the top
  • Scroll down to Other Deductions and Credits section and click Show More
  • Then click Start/Revisit next to Casualties and Thefts (click the question mark next to this to get more details on this deduction)
  • Should take you to screen asking Did you have anything stolen or damaged in 2017?
  • Answer Yes and continue, then answer No to Losses From Fraudulent Investments
  • The next screen asks for description/date of the disaster

Another way to get to this section:

  • Log into account and click Take me to my return
  • Click on Search in top right corner
  • Type in hurricane damage and hit enter
  • Then click on jump to hurricane damage from the results list
  • Should take you to screen asking Did you have anything stolen or damaged in 2017?
  • Answer Yes and continue, then answer No to Losses From Fraudulent Investments
  • The next screen asks for description/date of the disaster
