You can use the steps here below to help you get to the section to deduct damages that resulted from a disaster.
- Log into account and click Take me to my return
-
Click Federal to the left
- Then click Deductions & Credits at the top
- Scroll down to Other Deductions and Credits section and click Show More
- Then click Start/Revisit next to Casualties and Thefts (click the question mark next to this to get more details on this deduction)
- Should take you to screen asking Did you have anything stolen or damaged in 2017?
- Answer Yes and continue, then answer No to Losses From Fraudulent Investments
- The next screen asks for description/date of the disaster
Another way to get to this section:
- Log into account and click Take me to my return
- Click on Search in top right corner
- Type in hurricane damage and hit enter
- Then click on jump to hurricane damage from the results list
- Should take you to screen asking Did you have anything stolen or damaged in 2017?
-
