The 2020 Federal 1040 tax return was the mechanism that the IRS was using to confirm your current address and/or bank account should subsequent stimulus payments be authorized.
If you have e-filed your 2020 Federal tax return and the tax return is rejected by the IRS, you can correct your mailing address and/or bank account information as well as correct the entries that generated the rejection.
The IRS allows you to change your address by telephone, by mail and by IRS form 8822 Change of Address. See this.
So if there is a 3rd stimulus that comes out will it go to the bank i efiled for my 2020 taxes to go to?
Yes, that’s the best information we have at this time.
You can find the most up to date information from the IRS at its Coronavirus Tax Relief and Economic Impact Payments page, and updates from TurboTax here as they develop.
