If you tried to e-file the tax return it will get accepted or rejected pretty quickly. Then you'll know where you stand.
If you mailed your tax return, you will just have to wait to see what happens.
If you have not tried to e-file and have not mailed the return, you can go back and fix it before you file.
In what year did your spouse pass away? If your spouse passed in 2021 or 2022, and you did not remarry, you should be filing as married filing jointly for 2021. If your spouse passed in 2019 or 2020, and you have a qualifying child, you can probably file as qualifying widow(er) for 2021. In that case, there should not be any information about your deceased spouse in the tax return.
[Corrected years for spouse's death. Thanks @SweetieJean.]
Did your spouse die in 2021 or 2022? If so, you can still file Joint.
