I accidentally entered gambling winnings and I don't know how to remove them.

To get back to the gambling income section,

  • Open or continue your return in TurboTax, if you aren't already in it.
  • Search for W2G (lower-case also works) and select the Jump to link in the search results.
  • Answer Yes on the Did you win money or prizes from gambling or lotteries during 2020?  Go back through that section to remove the income. 

If you itemize instead of taking the Standard Deduction, you can deduct gambling losses up to the amount of your winnings.    You won't be able to deduct gambling losses if you lost more money than you won (excess losses) or if you're taking the Standard Deduction. For example, if you have $5,000 in winnings but $7,000 in losses, your deduction is limited to $5,000.
