A dependent cannot in turn claim dependent. How did he file? Did you file as Single? Did he provide more than 50% of the support for his siblings?
I filed married filing separately, this is our first year married so doing our returns was different for us. I plan to amend my return, but I didn't know how this would affect him filing if he files before I am able to amend mine. He knows it was an accident and said he isn't mad over it, but I feel like crap.
Yes he provided over 50% of the support for his siblings.
You and Spouse can file Married Joint, and still claim his siblings. Are you in a Community Property State?
I already filed my taxes, claiming my children, and filed married filing separate. He has not filed his taxes yet, and I am worried for him to file before I can amend my return.
No, we are not.
After viewing my return, I did not claim my husband. I put that he can be claimed as a dependent, which is still bad.
