Hi all,
A warning to everyone printing their return from TurboTax Desktop Mac--there is a huge bug in the software. When you choose print, if you select returns for filing or returns for your records, you get the option to print only your federal return by unchecking the checkbox next to state return, or just your state return, by unchecking the federal return box.
BUT, in the current (2/21/26) version of Turbotax Desktop Mac, that doesn't work. If you uncheck the state return box, it won't print the state instructions, but it WILL print your entire state return after your federal return. Likewise, if you uncheck the federal return box, it will still print the entire federal return, just not the federal instruction page.
This is a huge, ridiculous, embarrassing, wasteful bug—Intuit, please fix this right away!! Tax filers across the country could potentially be printing millions of extra pages of tax forms, not to mention paying twice the postage to mail in their returns if they don't realize that their state or federal tax return was erroneously printed.

I previously reported for investigation that Form 2210 would only print the first page for Mac, but was unaware of any other printing issues. I am currently unable to print my state return on my Mac due to missing forms so can't test this right now, but will elevate the issue.
For now, I recommend that you choose to print to PDF, and/ or then select which pages or range of pages you wish to send to the printer to avoid making unneeded copies.
I agree - I have 2 state returns to print and file, really frustrating that all (67) federal forms print out each time. Confusing as to what should be mailed, or not. This is a bug, and I believe I have seen similar issues in the past years turbo tax. A work around is to go to print state tax, in forms, and then once the preview loads, select the individual forms to be printed and mailed, or saved. I do believe turbo tax is putting more effort into the higher number of users on the online version. So many issues I read about are related to desktop, which they want to get away from, and the Mac versions.
