So I need to be able to install 2024 TurboTax Deluxe Desktop version on another computer in order to file taxes (Yes, I know it's a year late, but I didn't think I would owe anything and was only expecting a refund because I had no income, yet trying to save for retirement only caused me to be penalized and pay more than anything I earned on interest on the IRA. Thank you, government.)
I do not have access to the desktop (PC) where it was originally installed or it's simply not portable and not the desired solution. Turbo Tax allows the license to be utilized I believe up to five times.
Unfortunately the account to which the software was registered has been locked out and Customer Service after hours on the phone and multiple attempts to recover has been unsuccessful. That user created a new account when they tried to install the 2025 TurboTax software because they were not tech savvy enough to recover their original account. Therefore, they associated everything from their SSN and DL to the new account.
It's really sad that TurboTax Customer Service won't help me by issuing a new license or providing me access for free because we have proof of purchase to the TurboTax Online version and I'm sure they have all the info on the backend to verify how many times the license has been used. I'm writing here in hopes that someone from TurboTax takes this seriously before I file a report to the BBB.
I know there are options to still file my 2024 taxes by hand, manually or through other websites but the point of this post is that I pay for the software and TurboTax has locked me out of it. It's not okay.
