the simplest way to do this is to treat him as a self-employed -- schedule-C recognizing total amounts earned and showing any specific/allowable expenses for this stream of income. Note that the net income is subject to SECA ( equivalent to wage earners FICA but at 15.3% ). TurboTax will walk you through all this -- just tell it that your husband had self-employment income.

You can fill out Schedule C and enter 1099NEC, Cash or Self Employment Income into Online Deluxe but if you have any expenses you will have to upgrade to the Premium or use any of the Desktop CD/Download programs. All the Desktop programs have the same forms, so you can buy a lower version. You just get more help and guidance in the higher versions.
